Descrição Detalhada
Oral route.
Monotherapy:
Smoking cessation: Typically, 8-12 medicated chewing gums per day, at the appropriate dosage, will be adequate. Smokers with a low degree of dependence (Fagerström test < 6 or who smoke < 20 cigarettes/day) should initially be treated with a 2 mg dose. Smokers with high dependence (Fagerström test ≥ 6, who smoke > 20 cigarettes/day or who smoke their first cigarette < 30 minutes after waking up) or smokers who have not been able to quit smoking with a 2 mg medicated chewing gum should initially be treated with a 4 mg dose. No more than 24 medicated chewing gums per day should be administered. The duration of treatment is at least 3 months, after which gradual weaning from medicated chewing gum should begin.
Reducing smoking habits: administer one medicated chewing gum between smoking episodes, whenever the urge to smoke arises, in order to prolong the smoking-free intervals, with the intention of reducing the number of cigarettes smoked as much as possible. If, after 6 weeks, a reduction in the number of daily cigarettes is not achieved, medical advice should be sought.
Temporary abstinence: administer 1 medicated chewing gum between periods without smoking, for example, in places where it is prohibited or in other situations where you intend not to smoke, but where the need may arise.
Combination Therapy: For smokers with a high degree of dependence, who continue to experience uncontrollable cravings to smoke or who have not had success with monotherapy, Nicorette® 2 mg medicated chewing gum can be combined with Nicorette® Invisipatch. Smokers should follow the same recommended dose as for monotherapy with medicated chewing gum and the chosen transdermal system.
Pediatric population: should not be administered to individuals under 18 years of age without a doctor's recommendation.
Instructions for use: Each medicated chewing gum should be chewed, with pauses, for approximately 30 minutes, until a strong taste or a slight burning sensation is felt. The smoker should then stop chewing, placing the medicated chewing gum between the cheek and gum until the taste disappears, and then resume chewing. Repeat the process.
