IMODIUM® RAPID

Oral administration. Place the tablet on your tongue. It will dissolve and then be swallowed with saliva. No liquid is needed before swallowing.

Adults and children over 6 years of age:

Acute diarrhea: the initial dose is 2 tablets (4 mg) for adults and 1 tablet (2 mg) for children; followed by 1 tablet (2 mg) after each diarrheal bowel movement.

Chronic diarrhea: the initial dose is 2 tablets (4 mg) per day for adults and 1 tablet (2 mg) per day for children; this dose should be adjusted until 1-2 solid bowel movements per day are obtained, which is usually possible with a maintenance dose of 1 to 6 tablets (2-12 mg) per day.

Maximum dose for adults, in acute and chronic diarrhea: 8 tablets per day; Maximum daily dose for children: should be related to weight (3 tablets / 20 kg). Children under 12 years: There is limited information regarding use in children under 12 years. Hepatic impairment: Although there are no pharmacokinetic data available in patients with hepatic impairment, it should be used with caution in these patients due to reduced first-pass metabolism.

Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. After ileostomy, it allows for a reduction in the number of bowel movements and stool volume, and an increase in stool consistency.

Loperamide

It reduces propulsive peristalsis, increasing intestinal transit time.

It increases the tone of the anal sphincter, reducing incontinence.

It practically does not reach the systemic circulation.
