IMODIUM® Capsules

Oral administration. Take with liquids.

Adults and children over 6 years of age:

Acute diarrhea: the initial dose is 2 capsules for adults and 1 capsule for children; followed by 1 capsule after each diarrheal bowel movement.

Chronic diarrhea: the initial dose is 2 capsules daily for adults and 1 capsule daily for children; this dose should be adjusted until 1-2 solid bowel movements per day are obtained, which is usually possible with a maintenance dose of 1 to 6 capsules per day.

Maximum dose for adults, for acute and chronic diarrhea: 8 capsules per day; Maximum daily dose for children: should be related to weight (3 capsules/20 kg). Not recommended for children under 6 years of age without medical supervision.

Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. After ileostomy, IMODIUM® helps reduce the number and volume of stools and increase their consistency.

Loperamide

It reduces propulsive peristalsis, increasing intestinal transit time.

It increases the tone of the anal sphincter, reducing incontinence.

It practically does not reach the systemic circulation.
